Donna Pinto

Founder of DCIS 411 and give wellness

A reporter recently asked me: “What kind of response have you had from other women?

My reply: ††

The greatest response over the last nine years has been the many wonderful women I have helped and have developed deep friendships with.

These women have become like family to me.”

I love this idea. I doubt I can afford it this year. Will you do it again?

I KNEW this didn’t feel right! My recent DCIS diagnosis. The gynecologist, the imaging office, the surgeon ( who the gynecologist referred me to) the staff in the surgeons office. Even the day of my lumpectomy surgery, everything was so rushed. Right before they wheeled me into surgery the surgeon asked if I had any questions. I said I don’t think I’ll really need radiation. He was angry I said that and said I had to decide either lumpectomy with radiation or a mastectomy. He said don’t tell me lumpectomy and later come into my office with all your tubes for radiation pulled out! I thought that must happen a lot if he was angry about it. I definitely didn’t want a mastectomy so I went with lumpectomy knowing I’m really not accepting the radiation and tamoxifen treatment afterward . Here I am, 2 days after my lumpectomy and come across all this information and Donna Pinto. Everything she was saying in her interview I just watched on YouTube is EXACTLY how I was feeling. The entire guide wire procedure was so barbaric and not mention it was performed in a storage room in the hospital. I kid you not! My gut was screaming this is not right, I kept myself from standing up and saying enough of this. I couldn’t understand how stage zero is cancer. But everyone was pushing and rushing, giving a sense of urgency. They even moved my surgery up a week ( probably because they saw they might lose me) I’m so upset I didn’t follow my gut and take my time with all this. What do I do now?????

So sorry….it pains me to read your story as I know this is simply the way it is for thousands….pressured and rushed into biopsies, surgeries, radiation, and drugs. Sadly most just believe the doctors are saving their life! Please read as much as you can on this site and join the FB group “DCIS — is NOT cancer.” Many women sharing stories , information and resources. What’s done is done. Now you can be empowered. With peace, love and light, Donna
