QT Imaging
QT Locations
QT imaging is becoming more accessible.
For women looking for breast imaging without radiation, compression, or contrast, access to QT is expanding.
More than 12,000 women have now been imaged with QT technology.
Currently, 15 independently owned centers offer QT imaging in the United States. QT Imaging shipped 40 Breast Acoustic CT scanners in 2025, more than three times the number shipped in 2024. During the first half of 2026, another 28 scanners were shipped, bringing the total to 68 scanners shipped in just 18 months, with additional international expansion underway.

Why we’re watching QT Imaging
At DCIS 411, we believe women deserve access to information about the full range of breast imaging options, not just the technologies that have been available for decades.
QT scan offers three-dimensional, quantitative imaging without ionizing radiation, breast compression, or contrast injection.
For women who are monitoring breast changes over time, the ability to obtain detailed volumetric images may also open new possibilities for understanding what is happening within the breast, not simply whether a particular image is “positive” or “negative.”
QT Imaging is continuing to study and develop these capabilities, so we encourage women to look at the evidence, understand what the technology can and cannot tell them, and discuss how it may fit into their individual imaging strategy.
We’re keeping track of where QTscan is available so women can find it.
Insurance & QT
Insurance coverage for QT is still evolving. A dedicated CPT code, X579T, was released by the American Medical Association in 2026 and becomes effective January 1, 2027, an important step toward establishing a standardized pathway for reimbursement. Until then, coverage and reimbursement may vary by insurance plan and location, and many patients may need to pay out of pocket. Please visit https://dcis411.com/qt-insurance for additional info.
DCIS 411 provides educational information and does not endorse any individual imaging center. Commercial QT scan centers are independently owned and operated. Contact each center directly for current information regarding availability, pricing, clinical services and payment.
