Your donation helps us take the steps necessary to establish DCIS 411 as an independent nonprofit and build the infrastructure needed to continue this work.
If you believe women deserve better information, more transparency, and real informed choice, please consider supporting us.
Why do we want to become a nonprofit?
For years, DCIS 411 has been built through research, education, advocacy, content creation, website development, social media, and countless hours helping women navigate their diagnoses.
And behind all of it? There’s no big organization behind us. It’s just Donna and Yelena.
There’s no marketing budget, no big sponsor, no corporate backing or army of staff.
We are two women who believe women deserve better information about DCIS.
What Will Becoming a DCIS 411 Nonprofit Allow Us to Do?
But becoming a nonprofit isn’t simply about having more resources. It’s about creating the foundation that will allow DCIS 411 to grow, reach more women, and do more of the work we know is needed.
Expand our educational resources.
Continue translating complex research and medical information into language women can understand and use. We want to take that education beyond the website through workshops, conferences, speaking engagements, educational displays, and presentations for women’s and health groups.
Bring more attention to overdiagnosis and overtreatment.
Women deserve to understand the uncertainties of DCIS and the potential benefits and harms of different approaches. We want to bring the patient perspective to doctors, researchers, healthcare professionals, and advocacy organizations, and have a stronger voice in these conversations.
Keep up with the science.
DCIS research is evolving rapidly. We want to attend conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings, connect directly with researchers and clinicians, and bring the latest information back to women in plain language.
Reach more women.
We don’t want women to have to stumble across DCIS 411 when they’re searching for answers. We want to speak to more groups, build partnerships, improve outreach, expand our digital presence, and finally have a marketing budget!
Create more opportunities to support women.
We want to develop programs that connect women with education, resources, research, and emerging breast imaging options—and build an organization women can turn to throughout their DCIS journey.
We want DCIS 411 to be more than a website. We want it to be a voice for women and a seat at the table.
Becoming an independent nonprofit gives DCIS 411 the opportunity to build a sustainable organization around a mission that has already helped so many women.
And we’re halfway there! 🎉
