What is it? Why is it important? and How do I do it?
What? Detox, short for detoxification, is the purification of the body by removing toxins.
Why? Detoxification is an important first step in healing, preventing or eliminating illness. It will also boost energy and help with losing extra weight. You will feel lighter, healthier and happier.
How? I started my 1st detox with a psyllium/bentonite clay mixture — 3x a day for 3 days (see below). Read about Bentonite Clay Benefits
Psyllium and Bentonite Clay Mixture
1 rounded teaspoon psyllium husk
1 tablespoon liquid bentonite clay
8 ounces water
- Place psyllium and bentonite in glass, then add water and stir briskly.
- Drink quickly, before it thickens.
- Follow with another 8 ounces of plain water or juice.
- Plenty of fluid is important.
In addition, I followed an organic whole food plant-based diet. See Holistic Health.
After a few weeks, I did a 3 day liquid-only fast with healing teas, tonics, fresh pressed juices, soups and smoothies.

Great blog with information people need to hear regarding the *UN* cancer DCIS.. You lost me with this section though. If only eating the right diet and juicing and doing all these helpful things could prevent and/or cure real cancers. Unfortunately it’s not *the* answer because there is no one answer. The one thing for sure is that some people are taking advantage of the vulnerable and making lots of money while fostering false hopes. There’s so much we do not know and so many people who live their lives doing everything “right” but who’s lives are still brutally taken by cancer. And there are the very very young. Maybe juicing can help them too, ya think?

Hi Nan,
Thanks for your comment. Sorry that I lost you on this topic. I would recommend reading the book Anticancer: A New Way of Life which provides great info and studies on changing the “terrain” or internal environment of your body — and how this contributes to healing — even cancer. http://www.anticancerbook.com/. Check out the posts “Cancer Prevention: Some Fruits & Vegetables Bring Specific Protection” and “20 New Anticancer Rules.” Also please read this post on Helplessness Feeds Cancer: https://dcis411.com/2012/02/23/helplessness-feeds-cancer/
You are right…there is so much that is not known about cancer…but there is also a lot of great research and info that is not “mainstream” and I am trying to provide that info on this site as well as on my new site” DCIS REDEFINED. http://www.dcisredefined.org
For anyone looking for “alternatives” to the conventional “cut, burn, poison” treatment of cancer as well as being proactive in preventing initiation, progression or recurrence, another a great resource is “Chris Beat Cancer”: http://www.chrisbeatcancer.com/

Hi Nan, I hope you saw my reply to you (above). Also, have you seen my “Health Tips” page:: https://dcis411.com/health-tips/…. Here I list a comprehensive holistic/integrative plan that I began almost 4 years ago (with detoxification and juicing) and I continue living this plan today. There is no guarantee even if we do all the “right” things, but this “health plan for prevention” is MY CHOICE. I have tried to simplify it for communication’s sake and I offer it freely here (with resources) for others to investigate, contemplate and integrate into their lives…if they choose. I agree that there are many who are taking advantage of those who are uneducated — both mainstream and alternative doctors, healers and methodologies. That is why we must educate ourselves and advocate for our own health and not just be victims of the cancer industry, corporate pink washing and snake oil salesmen! Thanks for inspiring me today! 🙂 Donna

Thank you for your thoughtful replies Donna. Again, there is no answer. And to the extent we focus on diet, which does matter but with a different of foods and regimes for the individual. There is also the realm of environmental toxins, genetic predisposition, personal history and the risk factors that come with it. And the economic inequities throughout the world as to access to even the bare essentials of clean air and drinking water. Don’t get me started on how well we are doing caring for our own in this great and rich USA! I’ll continue doing my best to be open minded and *very* skeptical of all traditional and alternative solutions to cancer and other ailments as well.
